The top questions to ask before choosing a Home Health Care Company:
Is the agency Medicare approved?
Yes, Med Plus HealthCare is a Medicare and Medicaid Certified Company.
How long has Med Plus HealthCare been serving the community?
Med Plus HealthCare has been serving the residents of St. Louis and other parts of Missouri for over 3 years, and now offers services in Illinois as well.
How are patient emergencies handled?
In case of an emergency, patients are to call 911. However if Med Plus HealthCare can be of assistance, we have a staffing coordinator on call 24/7 to make sure all staffing needs are met promptly. In turn Med Plus HealthCare also has an RN available 24/7 to handle all medical questions and concerns.
How are my rights protected?
Patient rights are completely protected, as each of our staff are thoroughly trained and expected to protect our client’s privacy at all times. We also ensure that our patient’s medical and personal information will always remain absolutely confidential, and all billing and personal client information is secured under lock and key when not being processed.
Can my family and I decide my plan of care?
Based on your individual medical and personal needs, our trained professionals will work with you, your family and your own physician to develop a care plan that will ensure you the best possible outcome.
How far in advance do initial home healthcare arrangements have to be made?
No more than 24 hours typically. Often, we can provide initial assessments on the same day requested.
Does Med Plus HealthCare teach family members about the type of care being given?
Absolutely, our Nurses and Caregivers believe in fully educating not only our clients but also their family members about the care being given, and how the family can best care for the loved one.
Who makes sure the patient’s home healthcare plan is being followed?
Our Director of Nursing and our Nursing Managers frequently monitor the care plan of individual patients, and make adjustments as necessary to improve outcomes which are supported and directed by the patient’s Physician or other health care provider.
Do these supervisors make regular visits to the home?
Yes, our Nursing Supervisors and our Director of Nursing regularly make visits to the patient’s home to ensure the highest quality care possible for our clients.
Who can I call if I have questions or complaints?
Any family member or loved one who has authority to call on the patient’s behalf can discuss issues with their loved one, as long as we have prior consent from the patient, and may then contact our Director of Nursing to discuss any issues or concerns which arise. Our Director of Nursing will then appropriately and immediately act upon those concerns.
What happens if a home health care agency staff person does not come when scheduled?
Although rare, there are occasions where an agency staff member has an emergency personal issue or a problem with transportation. When this occurs, we are able to utilize our extensive network of personnel to immediately find a replacement.
Is a free home care consultation by a Registered Nurse offered prior to the start of service?
Yes, all of our new potential patients are visited by a Registered Nurse who will access their personal health and make suggestions to the patient, family and Physician prior to implementing a plan of care.
Is a written job description provided for the patients?
Written job descriptions are always available upon request and can be shared with any patient or loved one verbally or in writing, with prior patient consent.
Does Med Plus HealthCare provide a list of references to check the level of client satisfaction?
Our President personally calls each of our new clients weekly to access satisfaction and compliance with the patient’s plan of care. Ongoing monthly calls are also conducted to ensure quality service.
Are employees bonded and insured?
Yes, all Med Plus HealthCare employees are fully bonded and insured.
Are the employees licensed to perform specialized medical care?
Many of our Nurses do offer specialized care, including wound care and IV Therapy.
What kind of training does Med Plus HealthCare provide to its employees?
We offer continuing education to both the clinical and non-clinical staff of Med Plus HealthCare. Each employee is required to attend quarterly in service training sessions or other ongoing education.
Are the Aides experienced or certified?
Yes, our Aides are very experienced in health care, and many are certified as Nursing Assistants.
How are employees of Med Plus HealthCare recruited?
We have many recruiting efforts, such as word of mouth from other employees and healthcare professionals. In addition, our President speaks at many public events and colleges throughout the year, where he has met and hired several stand-out staff members.
What type of background checks are preformed prior to an employee being hired?
Each employee gets an extensive background check, and is also checked through the Family Care Safety Registry (FCSR) as well as the Employment Disqualification List (EDL).
